Everyone has or will encounter bullying or getting there feelings hurt. Both Sharon G.Flake in his book “The Skin I’m In” and Kesha and her son “praying” explains human emotions to show how difficult it is to get over pain. Maleeka always gets bullied because she is dark. In Praying the speaker wants to move on from a painful relationship. In both texts, we learn that dealing with pain is hard but moving on will make you stronger.
A common theme in both text is everyone will get hurt one time in their life. In “The Skin I’m In”, People call Maleeka different name like Coco beans. In the story “praying”, Kesha got in a relationship and she got abused by her boyfriend . The similar things are both main character’s are girls. Both girls want to move on. Maleeka wants to make more friends and Kesha wants to forget her ex-boyfriend. Both texts deal with negative relationships
That’s the difference between the two stories, one talks about a girl getting bullied and the other one talks about a girl getting abused by her boyfriend. Both tests have differences, for example Maleeka gets bullied by multiple people and Kesha doesn’t get bullied by multiple people. In “The skin I’m In” there is one person that is getting bullied. In contrast, Kesha gets treated bad by her boyfriend. This shows that sometimes you are going to get hurt.
In both “the Skin I’m in” and “praying” Sharon G.Flake and Kesha articulate with importance of getting bullied and moving on. After reading both the story and the song, readers might notice the pain a person can have . Sometimes people are going to hurt no matter what happens.
